Salesforce has purchased Convergence.ai, based in London which is expected to improve its Agentforce platform and enable it to compete with AI leaders including OpenAI, Anthropic and Google Duet AI.
Convergence.ai creates highly sophisticated AI agents that carry out complex activities just as humans do in digital space. They can deal with changing webpages, control various online processes and promptly cope with pop-ups, errors and updates to the user interface.
It is believed that the acquisition will enhance Salesforce’s Agentforce service, as it includes agents that take on and handle jobs without human help. The Agentforce software is used by online retailers and companies that utilize Salesforce’s ecommerce solution.
In 2024, the Balderton Capital, Salesforce Ventures and Shopify Ventures invested $12 million pre-seed funding in Convergence.ai.
The addition of Convergence’s technology is expected to help Salesforce develop AI agents of the future at a faster pace. It is already common for AI agents to address customers’ questions regarding the Salesforce platform, their accounts and similar topics, solving 97% of these inquiries.
Information about the financial part of the merger has not been shared, but it is estimated to be worth anywhere from $150 million to $200 million.
This new company strengthens Salesforce’s AI efforts and helps it keep pace with other AI leaders. Integrating Convergence’s AI agents will help Salesforce to boost how customers and workers interact and achieve success.
The transaction is planned to go through during Salesforce’s fiscal second quarter, after which the Convergence team will support the further development of Salesforce AI agents.
