Sissie Hsiao, who spearheaded the creation of the AI chatbot Bard, now called Gemini, is leaving Google, the firm said Wednesday to employees in its AI group.
A representative for the corporation confirmed that Hsiao will resign immediately. Her replacement will be Josh Woodward, head of Google Labs, who led the introduction of NotebookLM, the company’s well-liked application that can convert text into a podcast-like program.
According to the representative, Hsiao intends to take a brief hiatus before rejoining Google in a different capacity. A request for comment from Reuters was not immediately answered.
The Semafor article, which first reported on the change, cited a memo from Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, who stated that the move will help the business focus on the evolution of the Gemini app.
The representative stated that Woodward will continue to lead Google Labs as he shapes the company’s future.
In an effort to simplify its organization and improve its standing in the generative AI race, Google moved the Gemini app’s development team to DeepMind, its AI research center, last year.
