Dream Sports conducts its first major investment in first-class cricket media platform Cricbuzz through its acquisition of stake from Times Internet according to two knowledgeable sources. Dream Sports will make its largest cricket content platform investment through this deal which originates from Mumbai.

An unnamed source claims that Dream11 has completed the purchase of a 15% share in Cricbuzz for $50 million. The last details that enable the transaction to occur soon are contained in the agreement between the two parties.

The digital platform Cricbuzz launched its operation in 2004 through founders Pankaj Chhaparwal together with Piyush Agrawal and Pravin Hegde. Times Internet — the digital branch of the Times of India Group — obtained controlling ownership of Cricbuzz during November 2014 through an undisclosed transaction and integrated it with GoCricket jointly.

Cricbuzz maintains strong popularity among Indian cricket fans during major competitions such as the IPL which makes Dream11 accessible to highly interested visitors. Through this investment Dream11 would strengthen its brand presence and activate focused marketing initiatives and user acquisition mechanisms across Cricbuzz’s content network according to another source from the confidential talks.

Sources indicate that Cricbuzz generated revenue reaching Rs 400 crore when it ended its fiscal year FY25. Entrackr failed to independently check these figures.

At the time this article was released, Dream11, Times Internet, and Cricbuzz had not responded to the news.

During the current Indian Premier League (IPL), Cricbuzz anticipates 185 million users and 350 million video views.

The valuation appears satisfactory to people intensely interested in cricket within India. Watching a broadcast match will show you unmissable gaming site advertisements proving that cricket presents a sizable opportunity to them.

Due to its purchase of international match broadcasting rights in regions without a Jio Hotstar presence the platform can increase its user monetization capabilities. The purchase deal would have been a major operational factor for Dream11

The platform fights Espncricinfo competition by delivering rapid-paced updates to users. The method seems customized for Dream11 players because they like challenging each other during gameplay on the platform.

The acquisition of Cricbuzz by Times Internet represents a beneficial choice since market competition remains challenging. The large financial resources of Dream11 render a small minority shareholding meaningless so we will observe future developments in the next year to two.
